What are the qualifications for Baptism, Confirmation, and Covenant Membership?
That you profess Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Saviour and show evidence of a life transformed by this truth. Because Baptism, Confirmation, and Covenant Membership all signify entrance into the covenant people of God you yourself must be living in good conscience according to the teaching of the bible, summarized in our Membership Covenant.
Can I continue to be a part of Broken Bread Toronto without being a covenant member, baptized, or confirmed?
Yes. While we hope that you eventually profess faith in Christ, we welcome everyone no matter their beliefs to consider the claims of Christianity through Sunday worship, small groups, seminars, etc. and to enjoy the benefits of Christian community through social events, service to the community, and through the general warmth of fellowship churches are called to foster. The same holds for Christians who are not yet sure if they want to make BBT their home church. However there are many aspects of the church’s ministry and life where Covenant Membership is required.
How do I have my child baptized?
At least one parent must already be a Covenant Member of Broken Bread Toronto. Because Infant Baptism signifies inclusion into the care and community of God’s people, it would be meaningless if at least one parent was not a vital part of such a community.
