CALL TO WORSHIP

Psalm 145:13-14

13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises
and faithful in all he does.
14 The Lord upholds all who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down..

Scripture Reading

John 18:35-40

35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”

36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.

Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?”

40 They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising.

Series: Together: Christian Unity in a Divisive World

This Week’s Title: Part III: Our Kingdom is Not of This World

Sermon Summary:  By nature we are tribal, we seek status, and strive to build our own kingdoms. But Jesus calls us to the kingdom of heaven and not of this world. This is the only path to unity and peace.

online giving

If you’d like to support our ministry, you can do so on our website, under the 'Giving' tab. We know that giving and generosity is part of the Christian life but we also know that we are in unique circumstances. So let it be that we give what we have decided in our hearts to give and not under compulsion (2 Corinthians 9:7).
