Dear Friend of Broken Bread Toronto,

Please be informed that due to permit cancellations by the Toronto District School Board and the Government of Ontario, there will be no church services at Earl Haig S.S. for at least the next few weeks (March 15th to April 30th).

There are no plans to find another venue. Our civic leaders are discouraging large gatherings and we should comply (Romans 13:1-5). Please keep in mind that these directives by the province and the school board are pre-cautionary in nature and that there is no need for alarm. The avoidance of larger-type gatherings is a consensus measure by health officials and it is our civic duty. Other than that, life of course goes on (Psalm 91).

In the meantime, we encourage everyone at home to spend time each Sunday in worship. Though we’re not able to meet as a whole church, Sunday is still a ‘day unto the Lord’ (Leviticus 23:3) where we are called to rest, reflect, and set our hearts on things above (Colossians 3:2).

It’s evident that we are living in unprecedented circumstances. Many are feeling unsettled. The temptation to withdraw from others and from living out your faith is pressing. Therefore it is all the more important that you continue to pray - pray for those who are sick, pray for the elderly who have more reason to fear, pray for our church, pray for our city. It’s important that you continue to serve - call a friend to make sure they’re okay, prepare meals for the elderly who may be anxious about going out, check in on your parents, organize get-togethers in the absence of church services. And continue to grow - take in much of God’s word during this ‘quiet’ season. Strengthen your heart with the knowledge of who God is and what he has done, and though we can’t be together as a whole church, continue to hold on to the promise that ‘where two or three are gathered, there am I’ (Matthew 18:20).

The leaders and staff at Broken Bread are still in your service. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. If you know of someone in need, please advocate for them at care@brokenbreadtoronto.com.

BBT LIVE STREAMING SERVICE

Good news! You've spoken and we've listened. Some of you asked if the Sunday sermons/services could reflect the modern era in which we live and be recorded in video and not just audio. We've done you one better: we will be live-streaming our Sunday service! Though the format will be more informal, we will still have the opportunity to come together to sing, pray, learn, and even fellowship a bit.

You'll need to be on our email list to respond to the 'ZOOM' link which will give you access. Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page or email info@brokenbreadtoronto.com to subscribe to our mailing list

From 11:00 am to 11:15 am, we'll let everyone catch up with one another, since many of us haven't seen each other in a while. It might get a little hectic, so let's try to give everyone some time to talk! This is uncharted territory for us all, so we'll all need to be patient with one another and we'll figure out together how this will all work. Service will start at 11:15 am, as usual (your mics will be muted when we start!).

The sermon audio will also continue to be uploaded to our Sermons page. We hope you can join us on Sunday!
